The aim of this site is to inform you and help you choose the best barstool for your needs and wants. This post is the beginning of of a series of posts I will publish that will help you.

There are more than four things to look for but only four will be listed here and I consider them the most important:

  1. Quality
  2. Height
  3. Material
  4. Quantity

1. Quality – Like every product out there in the consumer and non-consumers world, quality is the most important thing that you should look for. You do not want to spend money and time on this and a few months or years later you need to replace some because of breaks. Make sure you choose reputable brands or brands with good warranty or guarantees.

2. Height – Now this is pretty important because most people make the mistake of choosing mainly on looks and when they place it next to a table or bar it is too short or too high. Make sure you take a measurement of the height of your intended table or bar and take a guess at what height you would like you or your guests seated on the barstool. Then take that and a tape measure with you.

3. Material – This is mostly personal taste if they will be going in your kitchen or to match the design of your business. Make sure you have a sturdy material if it is likely that they will be knocked around often. The range of materials include wood, aluminum, upholstered, plastic and a combination of these. Also take into consideration if there will be outdoor use.

4. Quantity – If you choose a style that is one of a kind be sure to purchase a few more than you intend to. If there are quality issues then it will be quite difficult to find replacements or additions. It is a good idea to choose a popular model but not so average. Or maybe buy a standard model and make some changes to it yourself. This can make for really interesting and unique designs that will make something average really unique.

As you can see from the above important points, there are many things to look for when on your purchasing trip. Your ultimate choice will depend on the purpose of the barstool , your budget and the rest of the decor of the room or space you will be putting them in.
